Sand House

Sand House

 The main activity in recent weeks has been planning for our project to remount the Sand
House stage play in Sep/Oct 2020. Our funding application to Arts Council England is
coming on well. Also, we have submitted the first of several applications to trusts and
foundations for match funding. Support from local organisations, either financial or in-
kind, is building and DDHA is requested to consider what support it may be able to offer,
please.

 Our search for a lost Sand House tunnel, running to the railway cutting near Balby Bridge,
has moved on. A ground penetrating radar survey in November did not detect anything,
but we believe the signal penetration was too shallow. There is a particular location in
the cutting that we are especially interested in and we are in discussion with Network
Rail over gaining access to investigate further.

 Our illustrated talks resume with a visit to Mexborough Heritage Society on Wed 26 Feb,
at 19:30hrs.

 Collaboration with Doncaster College continues as their students work on virtual reality
models of parts of the Sand House.

 Detailed discussions on the Sand House display in the new museum are scheduled for
mid-January.

Hatfield War Memorial Group

We have been busy over the Christmas period Transcribing the Hatfield Woodhouse
Burial registers and we have completed 3700 entries, just 700 left to do that takes us to
1996, the rest we will have to do in the council building to present day.
We are also very excited to have been asked to do the history and to look at all the RAF
men from Hatfield Woodhouse cemetery who have died.
It is going to be a very exciting new project which everyone is looking forward to starting.
In May there is going to be a celebration commemorating all the men with Tv coverage
and they are hoping for a fly past.
